Happy Birthday Biggie Smalls

Today would have been the 40th birthday of one of the greatest MCs of all time. Christopher Wallace, aka The Notorious B.I.G. was born May 21, 1972. 15 years after his death, in an industry that quickly forgets artists months after their best single has been played to death on radio and in the clubs; Biggie Smalls is still remembered and cherished by not only music fans but so many other artists who looked up to Biggie and were fans themselves.

Arguably, one of the best MCs ever; we'll always love Big Poppa.

On March 9, 1997; Christopher Wallace, aka The Notorious B.I.G. passed away after being shot 4 times in the chest. 14 years later, the murder has yet to be solved and no rapper has come close to filling the shoes of Biggie...

March 9, 2008 will mark the 11th anniversary of the death of one of Hip Hop's greatest MCs. The Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls, brought a new flow and sound into hip hop that has "inspired" many of todays rappers. We will always love Big Poppa.. RIP

In recent Biggie news:
Brooklyn rapper Gravy has been tapped to play The Notorious B.I.G., in the upcoming Fox Searchlight biopic Notorious.The supporting cast will be; Derek Luke, who will play Sean "Diddy" Combs; Angela Bassett as B.I.G.'s mother Voletta Wallace and Anthony Mackie as Tupac Shakur.

George Tillman Jr. will direct and the film goes into production this month. It is set for release in January of '09.
