Lego Mac

Lego & Mac geeks be warned; this does not officially exist.

Photographer Chris McVeigh put this together and promises to upload the building instructions in the near future. You may need to paint some beige bricks, cause that color is hard to find in Lego pieces..

LEGO 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van

The iconic VW Camper Van, an icon of the sixties counter-culture and loved by hippies and surfers around the world, has been recreated as a LEGO® Exclusive model.

The red LEGO VW Camper Van is a loving recreation of a T1 Camper from 1962, also known as the ‘Combi’ or ‘the hippie van’. It includes features such as the 'V' shape three-way colour split at the front, rounded roof and window frames, opening 'splittie' safari front window, opening doors, and of course, the instantly recognisable pop-up roof.

”Its unique character and charm have made it loved all over the world, which has also meant that it has become one of the most customisable vehicles ever produced,” says LEGO designer John-Henry Harris. “It has come in so many different shapes and sizes, interiors and exteriors that it really lent itself to a LEGO model.

”There is lots of technical building within the model that I think LEGO fans will enjoy. I’m also hoping that it will appeal to a wider audience, not just LEGO fans. I think the Volkswagen community out there will really appreciate this model,” he adds.

Although the Camper Van looks quite square in profile, it is actually subtly curved, presenting John-Henry with an interesting challenge – especially the iconic front. “It’s not until you look closer that you actually see that there are three curves on the front of the van, but we think we’ve managed to get everything right.”

The characteristic flat-four air-cooled Volkswagen boxer engine is also squeezed in above the rear axle, exactly as in the original. Inside, care has been taken to reproduce an interior that is as close to the original as possible. There’s a sink unit, a bench that folds down into a bed, a folding dinette table and an opening cupboard with a mirror.

The model also embraces the counterculture with a hippie-inspired interior colour scheme, a lava lamp and a T-shirt in the window that says ‘Make LEGO models, not war’.

The 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van is on sale from October 1, 2011

Thanks to K2

This is LONG overdue, as these items arrived for me back in late Fall; but it's been a bit hectic around here, and to be honest, the snow hadn't fallen yet, so snowboarding was not at the forefront of my thoughts. Now the snow has been in Montreal for a while now, and it's officially been winter for a couple weeks; so hopefully this winter I can get out a few times like last year and do some damage on the hills. And thanks to Dan & Chris @ K2, I will be riding on new hardwear this year!!

It's no secret that I am a fan of the Mishka brand. When I heard that Mishka & K2 were joining forces on the 2009 Jibpan, I HAD to have this board. Luckily I have friends in the right places who were able to make this possible.
Teh Jibpan is K2's top freestyle board. It features harshmellow technology, a wood/honeykomb WH4 core and integrates a longer effective edge with shorter nose and tail, allowing you to drop down 5 cm in board size without losing the stability of a longer board. In other words perfect for stomping anything in your path, or whatever path you choose.

Board graphics provided by the Mishka design team.

The auto binding is super lightweight and provides super quick entry & exit.

Once again thanks to Dan & Chris at K2.

So close, Yet so far...

I was prepared to sit here and type how cool the Blackerry Bold was, and how all the I-phone brainwashed followers need to get off Steve Jobs d**k; but it looks like that will have to wait.
Today I came home to find a lovely package awaiting my arrival. Could this be? After many months of waiting for its release & 4 weeks of checking the mail after placing my order with the lovely Pamela at Rogers; could this be the sacred item I have been waiting for?
Not much time was wasted opening the package to find...

Insert classic Hallelujah hymn here.

After a few pics for the blog, I hunker down in front of the computer preparing for the not so difficult task of transferring all info from my curve to the precious Bold. As I unpack everything, I take the time to read the few pamphlets that arrive with the PDA. It records video? Nice! Compatable with I-tunes? Cool! Wi-Fi? Awsome!!! Hey its bigger than the curve! Oh well, nobody's perfect..
Let me plug this sucker in.. and get some juice in it..

Hmmm it doesn't seem to have any power... No biggie. I'll let it charge for a bit. So I wander off to take care of some other chores, grab some dinner and make my way back to a black, iconless screen.. Why isn't this thing have any power?
Well when all else fails take the battery out; wait a few seconds and try agin... Nothing. What The F*X*?

Finally I admit defeat and have no idea what is wrong with this newly aqcuired paperweight. I grab the phone and call the Rogers customer support hotline. After the standard security questions, we dive into the problem.
Justin, my trusty Rogers sidekick on this adventure advises me to wiggle the cord.. Hmm not th emost tech savvy response I've ever heard.. We laugh about it and I follow his advice.. Still nothing.. Then Justin asks if I have tried to remove the battery and try again. I chuckle and admit that this step has been done at LEAST 10 times in the past 10 minutes before I called him.
"Well sir, you have a defective unit; I'll put you through to Data customer care and they will make arrangements to send you a new one" Justin explains to me while assuring me that I will have another bold shortly.
ARGH!!!! So close yet oh so far from being one step closer to keeping up with the Jones' and their over hyped I-phones.. Which suddenly doesn't seem so bad now...
Stay tuned..
