Although the IPhone cult gets stronger by the day; I am still in blackberry's corner. I admit my near switch after using the Torch for a year. But with the 9900, I am back in their corner.
Those who know me, know that I'm not really a sports car kind of guy; BUT, I do appreciate the designers at Porsche, and if I had to burn money, They would be on my list of things to buy. That being said, Porsche Design teamed up with the good people at Blackberry for the P'9981.
Featuring a stainless steel front and leather back, the P'9981 is similar to the 9900, yet a bit more "upscale". The P'9981 will be available before the end of the year at Porsche Design Stores.

The toy is the first to transform the Apple iPad into a virtual play mat for kids. And the app turns ordinary toys into a part of an immersive game world for kids, full of sounds, narration, and music. That transforms a static and boring toy into an interactive experience.
Disney AppMates is scheduled to be released October 1st. They will retail for $20 for a pair of cars.
Each toy will feature a unique footprint that the iPad’s touch screen is able to recognize, which then helps the app to identify which car is sitting on top of it. The app is then said to tailor the experience according to that particular toy. At the moment the toys available include Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, Finn McMissile, and Holley Shiftwell. Two additional characters, Francesco Bernoulli and Shu Todoroki will be launched in November.
The playbook may not have been as well received as I or the people at RIM hoped, but that doesn't mean that RIM or the blackberry is going away any time soon. Although the blackberry torch has given me mixed feelings after using it for the past 6 months, I still would rather use it than make the jump to the oh so popular iPhone.
That being said, it looks lke the upcoming Blackberry units have read my mind and is a hybrid of the best of past Blackberry models. The thing I like most about the upcoming Bold "Touch" is that you still have touch screen capabilities with a full keyboard in figers reach. The annoying flip of a hidden qwerty keyboard is now a thing of the past. This is the most unattractive thing about the Torch. A 5.0 MP camera keeps the images crisp and sharp. Tons of other business & play features make this unit a must have on my wish list...

RIM announced their new smartphone, The Torch. The blackberry 9800, aka The Torch, is the first Blackberry to launch with Blackberry 6 OS. BlackBerry 6 features a redesigned interface that seamlessly works with the touch screen and trackpad, includes expanded messaging capabilities with intuitive features to simplify the management of social networking and RSS feeds (Social Feeds), and provides integrated access to the BlackBerry Messenger, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and various instant messaging applications available on the BlackBerry Torch smartphone. Ah the good ol' days. When graphics were bad & storylines were corny. Who knew gaming would advance to what it is today. Wondering what happened to all the old game cartridges that existed? I was prepared to sit here and type how cool the Blackerry Bold was, and how all the I-phone brainwashed followers need to get off Steve Jobs d**k; but it looks like that will have to wait. Today I came home to find a lovely package awaiting my arrival. Could this be? After many months of waiting for its release & 4 weeks of checking the mail after placing my order with the lovely Pamela at Rogers; could this be the sacred item I have been waiting for? Not much time was wasted opening the package to find... Insert classic Hallelujah hymn here.
After a few pics for the blog, I hunker down in front of the computer preparing for the not so difficult task of transferring all info from my curve to the precious Bold. As I unpack everything, I take the time to read the few pamphlets that arrive with the PDA. It records video? Nice! Compatable with I-tunes? Cool! Wi-Fi? Awsome!!! Hey its bigger than the curve! Oh well, nobody's perfect.. Let me plug this sucker in.. and get some juice in it..
Hmmm it doesn't seem to have any power... No biggie. I'll let it charge for a bit. So I wander off to take care of some other chores, grab some dinner and make my way back to a black, iconless screen.. Why isn't this thing have any power? Well when all else fails take the battery out; wait a few seconds and try agin... Nothing. What The F*X*?
Finally I admit defeat and have no idea what is wrong with this newly aqcuired paperweight. I grab the phone and call the Rogers customer support hotline. After the standard security questions, we dive into the problem. Justin, my trusty Rogers sidekick on this adventure advises me to wiggle the cord.. Hmm not th emost tech savvy response I've ever heard.. We laugh about it and I follow his advice.. Still nothing.. Then Justin asks if I have tried to remove the battery and try again. I chuckle and admit that this step has been done at LEAST 10 times in the past 10 minutes before I called him. "Well sir, you have a defective unit; I'll put you through to Data customer care and they will make arrangements to send you a new one" Justin explains to me while assuring me that I will have another bold shortly. ARGH!!!! So close yet oh so far from being one step closer to keeping up with the Jones' and their over hyped I-phones.. Which suddenly doesn't seem so bad now... Stay tuned..
