Tuesday, February 10th; marks the 3 year anniversary of the death of J Dilla (aka Jay Dee) who passeed away due to complications from Lupus. James Dewitt Yancey is regarded as one of Hip Hop's most profound & prlific producers. Often dubbed "your favorite producer's favorite producer," Dilla brought an uncomplicated soul to his production that has still yet to be duplicated by other producers.
His legacy lives on through many dedications & tributes (including Dave Chapelle's Block Party, which was dedicated to Dilla in the opening credits) including psychology's tribute, The Diamond In The Rough: The J Dilla Tribute, which has aired annually at this time of year paying homage to p-gizzy's favorite producer. psychology's tribute mix has been heralded by many as a touching tribute to James, by simply mixing some of Dilla's most touching pieces of work during his deep yet too short production career.
The Diamond In The Rough: The J Dilla Tribute airs tonight on K103 radio at midnight and can also be downloaded HERE.
